The missing pictures

Have a photo of one of these Beefeaters?

We still need a main photograph for 29 restaurants. Inside or out, old or new, your photograph could help someone recognise a place they remember.

Help put a face to a familiar name

Some restaurants in the archive have a photograph of their frontage, sign or dining room. Others still have a gap where that picture should be. This page lists the venues without a main photograph, grouped by area. Open a venue page to check its town and address before sending a picture, especially if you remember a common pub name used in more than one place.

A photo does not have to show a special occasion. An outside view, the bar, a favourite table or a meal with the restaurant visible around it can all help tell the story. Please say which restaurant it shows and roughly when it was taken. If you do not know the year, tell us that; an honest approximate date is more useful than a guessed exact one.

Use a photograph you took yourself or have permission to share. The memory form lets you name the venue, add its story and upload a picture. Contributions are read by a person before publication. A photo is not added automatically, and the form explains the permission needed for it to appear publicly. Send a photograph or memory →

Already have a picture of another Beefeater?

We would still like to hear from you. A venue with an outside photograph may have no view of its dining room, and an older picture may show a different sign, layout or period in its life. Share the restaurant name and the occasion through the memory form. If your strongest memory is of working there, the former staff page has a few questions to help you get started.
